Relationship Building in Diverse Classrooms

Relationships and trust between teachers and students constitute the foundation for everyone to thrive in the classroom, for learning to occur and for producing great course results. Together with Arjan Verdooren, I zoom in on this topic in a three-piece article and audio series. From December 2, 2021 on, we will discuss the value of building relationships in the classroom, the challenges we may face as teachers in this process and how we can tackle them.

Arjan Verdooren is an expert on intercultural communication and competence who connects academic and practice as a speaker, teacher and as a consultant. He has more than 15 years of experience working with public organizations, corporations and NGOs. We take the book ‚Diversity Competence – Cultures Don’t Meet, People Do‘, which he co-authored with Edwin Hoffman, as a starting point for our talk.
